Gynecomastia surgery is performed to achieve a more smooth and aesthetic appearance of the male chest, reduce shoulder and back pain caused by large and sagging breasts, improve physical appearance, and boost self-confidence.
The procedure is carried out under local or general anesthesia. Small incisions are made around the nipple or in the armpit area. The breast tissue, fat tissue, and skin layers are carefully separated, and excess breast and fat tissue are removed.
Post-surgery, swelling and bruising may occur in the chest area. A compression garment may be required to support the healing process. Light activities can be resumed shortly after the surgery, while more intense activities may be resumed within a few weeks. Incision scars fade over time and are generally concealable with undergarments.
